Level 2 plumbing apprenticeship prove of work for portfolio. Can first and second fix be at same location . Can prove of work be carried out at apprentices home address.

Hi Ghostrider,
You don’t say whether you’re an apprentice or employer.
Anyway, the answer to your questions is yes of course Both First & Second Fixes can be at the same address.
So essentially two separate plots/address could accommodate all six assessments.
As for using the candidate’s own address would normally be not acceptable. Why when you have four years to complete two installs would you need to fabricate’ a job in your own home.
All this information should be offered by your training provider and assessor.

High Tea break.
Thanks for that, its a long story, I will keep brief. Started as apprentice ,completed year one, started year two when covid started, put on furlough, made redundant but got another apprenticeship within days on lodges, tutor said it would be ok. Year two final exam has been put back from last July to January 2022. Never had on site assessment since started. New assessor has informed us that lodge work is not acceptable for the portfolio for last couple of years, first and second fixes must be in separate places i.e. four different jobs and replacing a bathroom in my parents house(where I live) is not acceptable. Current employer is trying to get qualifying work for me. Any advise would be appreciated, I really do want to finish my apprenticeship.

Hi Again Ghostrider,
Can you confirm which course you’re on please,
Is it the 9189 or 6129.
This is important, if it’s the older
I’m also unfamiliar with the term‘lodge work’.

Hi Tea Break,
It is 9189, by the term Lodge work I mean plumbing up of prefabricated lodges for holiday parks and retirement homes, the work incudes fitting central heating, bathrooms and kitchens. It is really frustrating as having written to several domestic plumbers for a position with them, no one replies. I did not realize it would be this hard, but I will persevere. My current employer is trying to get some domestic work but don't hold out much hope.

Thanks for that Ghostrider,
I cannot understand your Assessor’s problem with the Lodges. We have apprentices doing very similar on industrial portacabins.

Essentially, you could complete first, second and commission (although you may need to be part of site installation team for commissioning, depends) on one lodge and the other assessments for another lodge.
You need to complete the six fault reports.
These can also be derived from your work on the lodges.
In summary (from your description) I would have no problem in facilitating your assessments.

Hi Tea Break,
Thanks for the information. Is there anywhere that you are aware of that states City and Guilds do not accept Lodges. In addition can I use our correspondence when I speak to my assessor because it sound like you are one.
Thank you for all your help it is most appreciate.

Hi Ghostrider,
Firstly, there is nothing within the C & G guidance which specifically excludes the use of pre-fabricated buildings (lodges) as an assessment base.
Secondly, you may show my posts to your
assessor. However, my comments are my personal assessment, based on the information YOU have provided. I have not heard the situation as interpreted by your assessor. Nor do I wish to engage in a ‘keyboard’ argument with your assessor.
Finally, the information I have given you is to the best of my knowledge correct. However, I will not be down into a direct dispute with your Training Provider.
I hope you understand my position and I wish you all the best, in reaching a mutually satisfactory solution to your current issues.

Hi Tea Break,
Sorry if I offended you but I had no intention of involving you direct. I want to thank you for your advice it has been a great help even though my tutor refuses to change his stance. I will continue to try and qualify by hook or by crook. Thanks again, I will let you know how thing end up.

Hi Ghostrider,
You haven’t offended me, I was just making a point.
I really don’t understand the issue, if the ‘lodges’ plumbing includes hot and cold water systems and heating?
Best Regards
Tea Break
