I am on my firms gas safe registration. If someone asks me to cap a gas pipe off going to a fire. Would I need to have my own gas safe registration for this?
Hi, I’m looking to retrain as a gas engineer and do a new entrants gas course.
I’m a bit concerned by the ‘on-job’ work experience/shadowing, as some course want to charge £1500 to pair you up with a qualified engineer. Some courses don’t offer pairing and suggest you find your own engineer to...
This is a flue from a boiler, just installed by Borthwick. We were worried that this was dangerous so called out BG. They say it is not dangerous but the boiler has been certified as “at risk”. We are trying to get them back, but its not easy. C**b*ys comes to mind. CO monitor nearby.
Hello,
I am looking for an honest opinion please, with my current employment I get a lot of time off, I am considering completing a gas safe course with the view to use my spare time to potter about doing boiler services and that only, am I naive to think it’s that simple?
Thanks

Hi, my mother had an electric cooker installed yesterday. The guy who fitted it said it shouldn't be close to the gas pipe but it is.
The red arrow shows the gas pipes, the blue arrows are the electric supply for the cooker and the purple is the back of the cooker.
I know nothing of plumbing...
Hi there,
Can I simply undo the screws on this heater towel rail, make sure it's off and prop it up while I paint the wall behind it?
I saw tutorials that said to drain towel rails but mine doesn't have any controls, just a switch outside the bathroom.
Thanks!
Hi I have a problem with my flexible pipes on my sink. They need replacing but we are going on holiday so won't be able to get this done till we get back. Is it safe to leave isolation valve turned off on flexible pipe connected taps for a longer period as it will be 2 weeks? Will it cause any...
Hi,
A while ago , we has an odd-job guy fit a new downstairs loo. He's attached the washing machine and basin waste to the top of the toilet waste, see photo. We have a septic tank and sewage smell coming up when we flush. I've assumed this is because the seal where the waste enters the ground...

Drain central heating system (water tank in loft) in
a two storey house - ground and first floor
when is it safe to switch the boiler back on -
is it only when the tank in the loft has stopped making
a noise - implying that the system is back to where it
was before the system was drained.
The...

Morning All. We have a gas safe inspection coming up. It's the first one we've had since I started working at the company and my predecessor didn't keep any info on what it involves IE what type of work they will look at, certs and tools to have on the engineers vans and the like. We are 90%...
I have read a few posts on here discussing sharing a washing machine stand pipe for the boiler condensate pipe and the risks of washing machine waste water backing up into the boiler etc., but I recently seen something that I can't find any discussion on so thought to start one.
It was a combi...
